FAQ

About XIRR.

What is XIRR?
XIRR (Extended Internal Rate of Return) is the annualised return of a series of investments and withdrawals made on different dates for different amounts — the correct way to measure returns on SIPs, top-ups and partial redemptions, unlike a simple CAGR which assumes one lump sum.
Why is XIRR different from the returns shown in my mutual fund app?
Many apps show absolute or point-to-point returns that don't account for when each rupee was actually invested. XIRR is time-weighted by transaction date, so a SIP that ran for 3 years shows a materially different (usually more accurate) number than treating the total as invested on day one.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No — this calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to any server.
